The Forge Ignites: Progress Report from the Creative Trenches
How I’ve Been Melding Myth, Code, and Community into a Living Ecosystem.
Dear Dispatch Readers,
The past few weeks have been a whirlwind inside The Forge — that cross-platform, all-encompassing creative ecosystem I’ve been meticulously building under the banner of DuranteMagnus Art Studios. And today, I want to pull back the curtain for a moment and share with you what’s been quietly burning behind the scenes.
This isn’t just a progress report — it’s a manifesto-in-motion, a spark from the anvil where stories are hammered into being.
🚀 Phase 2: Nearing Completion
For those of you who’ve followed from the beginning, you know this journey has always been about more than just comics. It's about connecting every story, every sketch, every spark of inspiration across platforms like Substack, Gumroad, Redbubble, YouTube, Pinterest, and more. The Forge is meant to be a living ecosystem — not a gallery, but a workshop.
Right now, I’m nearly done with Phase 2, which focused on:
🔗 Platform Integration: All roads now lead to duranrivera.art. It’s the digital citadel where Substack posts, Gumroad listings, YouTube trailers, and more converge. Think SHIELD HQ… but for indie myth-making.
✉️ Mailing List Infrastructure: Substack is up and running — not just for updates, but as the storytelling home base. My Ko-Fi, BuyMeACoffee, and Gumroad are all embedded, giving readers and fans direct access to content, freebies, and support.
🎁 Giveaway Design + Lead Magnet: I’ve begun shaping the first freebie, a zine-style PDF tied to the Chagra mythos, combining real Taíno artifacts, hand-drawn sketches, and ancient lore — all woven into a beautiful, printable art booklet for subscribers.
🎬 Animations, Promos, & the AI-Powered Future
Lately, I’ve been diving deep into Sora, Kling, CapCut, and Eleven Labs to develop visual teasers and audio-driven animations. This includes:
A Chagra cinematic teaser, revealing the logo and aura of the upcoming mythological epic.
An early trailer test for Danger-Squad, featuring Dirk, Trish, Steve, Eugene, and Murdock. These short animated scenes are shaping the visual language of the Forge — cinematic, quirky, and bold.
Playful Instagram shorts, including one where Trish pets Dirk and catches him completely off guard. (Yes, even a grumpy space captain needs emotional support.)
I’m not aiming for perfection here — I’m sketching in motion. These are proof-of-concepts that will evolve into full trailers, chapter previews, and story sizzles.
🎧 Incoming: A New Podcast on the Horizon
In the spirit of expanding storytelling into new formats, I’ve been co-developing a brand-new podcast with a longtime friend and fellow creative. It’s still under wraps — but we’re having real conversations, raw takes, and creative collisions that I think you’ll love. Expect an announcement in just a few weeks.
✏️ Comic Projects: Ink, Motion, and Mystery
Comic-wise, I’ve got a few panels spinning:
✒️ I’m contributing to Unpopular Studios' second anthology, bringing some indie grit and cosmic mythos to the party. It’s super secret right now. Will show you more in future posts.
🎨 On top of that, I’m quietly crafting something special with an incredible artist and producer — a new comic inspired by the spirit and aesthetic of a classic Michael Jackson video. That’s all I can say for now… but trust me, this one will hit different.
📚 Dispatch Deep Dive: What’s Coming Next
✅ Passive Income Hack eBook (Final Draft): A brutally honest, no-fluff guide about what is and isn’t working as I build DMA Studios into a sustainable business.
✅ Danger-Squad Zine: A print-friendly peek inside the crew’s hijinks, ships, and cameos. It’ll be both merch and lore drop.
✅ Pinterest Expansion: I’ve reorganized years of reference art, and soon it’ll become a searchable visual archive — a Forge-specific portal where each board reflects a comic, aesthetic, or project vision.
✅ Substack Video Loop Banner: Yup, I’m working on a cinematic loop that brings the Dispatch page to life with subtle animations and thematic energy. Static is dead.
🎙️ Final Words: Build While the World Sleeps
What I’m building isn’t just a portfolio. It’s a universe. And it doesn’t need permission to exist.
So if you’ve been feeling like you’re stuck in the in-between — not quite launched, not quite known — I hope this inspires you to keep forging anyway. You don’t need viral numbers to be valid. You need vision and volume.
Until next time, stay sharp, stay weird, and stay tuned.
The bell rings at night.
